"An Evening with Friends"
Choose any date in February and host a dinner party, a cocktail party, a poker game, a bocce tournament, a chili cook off . . . anything to gather likeminded friends together in support of Big Bend Cares.
The agency will provide the invitations, which will explain that rather than meet in a restaurant and pay a check for dinner, your guests will be asked to write a check to Big Bend Cares instead. After your event, Big Bend Cares will send out thank you notes that will include applicable tax information.
All hosts and guests are invited to join the agency at Chez Pierre Feb. 24 for a dessert reception as a gesture of appreciation.
Check out www.bigbendcares.org for information on local restaurants that will be sharing their proceeds with Big Bend Cares throughout the month.
Meet-and-greet for local businesses
IBACA-Locally Owned Tallahassee hosts a meet-and-greet gathering at the Brogan Museum on Wednesday, March 7, at 6:30 p.m. There will be a light dinner and discussion about promoting locally owned businesses and organizations.
The fee is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.
Call 385-1553 for more information or visit www.LocallyOwnedTallahassee.com.
Grammy nominee gives benefit concert
The College of Social Work and the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Foundation presents two-time Grammy Award nominated recording artist Cindy Bullens, whose 25-year career has included performing with Elton John, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, and many others.
In 1996, Cindy's 11 year old daughter, Jessie, died of cancer. She used her music to help her heal, creating the album "Somewhere Between Heaven and Earth," and now she uses her music on behalf of others having established The Jessie Bullens-Crewe Foundation.
The event is free and will be held in the Conradi Theatre in the Williams Building on the campus of Florida State University. Parking will be available in the lot located on Jefferson Ave. and Copeland St.
